Framework
Restraint systems are mainly placed along the road or in the central reservation of a road in order to guide errant vehicles. They can be made of steel, prefabricated concrete or in-situ concrete.
The installations are tested and the correct installation is described in an impact test report. Correct installation is essential for proper functioning and the safety of road users. For this reason, execution certification was chosen here as well.
Numerous implementers were in the trial period for obtaining the certificate in 2023. The first 7 certificates were awarded in March 2024. An overview of the certificate holders can be found here.
Types
There are different kinds of restraint systems:
- Safety barriers from in-situ concrete
- Safety barriers from metal
- Safety barriers from prefabricated concrete
- Terminals
